I have a hand hewn barn for sale. The barn is still standing if anyone is interested in looking at it in person. I can also give a virtual tour for anyone that might not be local.
The barn measures approximately 30×40. It has 3bays/4bents. The average beam size is 8×8.
Originally there were two support posts in the basement under the tie beam on the center two bents. Theses posts are missing causing the tie beams to sag in the center. It is my opinion that this sag could be drawn out and these tie beams to be able to be re used in the new construction. If however someone didn’t want to mess with that I do have replacement beams available.
I am asking $30,000. this includes:
Dismantling the barn
numbering all the beams and providing detailed drawings
All of the usable siding processed. (Nails and rot removed)
timbers from the floor up are guaranteed meaning I will repair or replace and damaged timbers. This does not include the top plates. My general recommendation for these is to use new beams for your upper and lower top plates. My primary reason for this recommendation is that usually the original ones have a bit of a sag or aren’t perfectly Symmetrical. Using new beams for top plates makes building your new roof system that much simpler. These new beams can be worked over with an ax and draw knife and stained so that to the untrained eye they will appear indigenous to the original barn.
rafters, no guarantee that they can be recused as rafters. Sometimes this is possible but often there is enough damaged rafters that this is not practical. If this is the case they are often repurposed for framing in your interior walls etc.
transportation is not included in the above price but I do have the ability to transport it and would be happy to negotiate that on a case by case basis.
I am also available for hire to do the reconstruction
