Asked by Gary Auerbach from Summit County, Utah
Planning to build a gable barn on site of my Utah home. There is heavy snow fall a dirt roads only. How well does your gable barns hold up in heavy snow fall? How is the material delivered?
I really like the barns but curious about the practical side of the operation.
Thanks,
Gary
Hi Gary,
Heavy Snow and only dirt roads? Sounds like my kind of place!
Yes, I have every confidence in our design to hold up to snow loads as much and more than 70# per square foot. We have many different design resourses in our bag of tricks that can really beef up that snow load capacity.
The barn kits are usually delivered on a Tractor Trailer (Semi Truck) and will need to be unloaded on site with your equipment. However we have made special arrangments in the past to have them delivered by a goose neck trailer, that could be hand unloaded, for an extra fee.
It is always better thought if you rent a telescoping fork lift for 2 weeks to a month so that you can use it to assist in the building process.
Have a great day!
