I’m sorry if this has been covered on your site. I’ve just started researching old beams. We have an around 4’x4′ x about 12′ or 14′. Yes, those are are all feet notations on the measurements. Lol. Anyway, a coworker says it is probably quite valuable. How does one go about finding a value and buyer?
Hi Nic,
That is a mammoth of a beam! Wow!
For something as one of a kind as that, you would be best served by offering it to people who’s business is in reclaimed and rare lumber like that.
It just so happens that folks like that frequent this website, so listing it in the Old Barns For Sale section of this website would be a great place to start. I wouldn’t put a price on it, just ask people to make an offer.
Don’t forget to include your contact information, and pictures. You will want to prove the size with pictures that include a tape measure measuring the beam.
Best of luck with it, Have a great day!
