How would I price or know what a good offer is on a standing tobacco barn that was built in approx. the 1930’s or early 1940’s. There are 2 barns and pack house on this farm. I have contacted a salvage co but no money /value discussions have been started.
Logs are prob hand hewn but not definite. can you help with advice on how price a structure such as this. These logs would be used as reclaimed lumber. the logs give a gray weathered look from the outside.
This is a 2 story barn originally designed as a wood-burning barn and at some stage in the 60’s converted to an oil-burner barn (the oil burners are still inside).
possibly some metal nails and some bullet fragments as 1 side of the barn was used for target practice.

Hi Mary,
The best answer I can give you is it is worth what you can get. Keep in mind that there are a lot of labor costs that go into dismantling a barn and reclaiming its wood.
Unless it is an exceptional barn in my experience they are rarely worth more than the cost of reclamation. You might find it to be different or you might not.
