Asked by Sandra Kandt from Avoca, Mi USA
We have a barn on our property that we use for goats and turkeys and chickens. It is in need of a lot of work and we do not have the funds to do it. I get upset when I drive around and see old barns down or destroyed. We need to keep our history.
Are there any grants or people who work just to restore?
My husband is a hard worker and knowledgeable in construction..but just not barns. We are fixing up the ole barn house slowly and would love to have this all back to what it was in the day. It was a working farm at one time.
We want our son to have this all and pass it on for another 100 years.
Thank you for your question! Maybe someone out there has a better answer for you, but I really havn’t found any real grants for helping rebuild a working barn.
That’s not to say there aren’t any out there or that there aren’t some creative ways to finance your project…
Maybe some of you other Barn Geeks out there have some ideas? We would love to hear from you if you do, or if you can offer some other assistance. Feel free to share, part of our goals here at barngeek.com is to build a community of Barn Geeks that will work together to save, build, restore, and recycle traditional barns.
