Based on age of house on property, the barn was likely built in late 1800’s. Approximately 20 years after construction of the barn the upper part of barn caught fire. The upper part of barn was rebuilt on original first level.
The upper level support beams are completely round logs. While the ground floor level main beams look like they are hewn square beams. The main level floor beams are flat on 2 sides and naturally round on 2 sides.
—-the main support beam on ground level are 14” square hewn beams.
—-the floor support beams are flat on 2 sides and round on 2 sides, which are 10” in diameter.
—-the upper level support beams have the natural roundness of the tree and are 10”-12” in diameter at the base.
—-the outside barn dementions are 40’ x 60’.
